Cleaning with a smile
One hundred employees clean at the University of Applied Sciences Arnhem and Nijmegen. The University of Applied Sciences started a project, ‘cleaning with a smile’, to improve the relationship between client and contractor. ‘More fun, means better cleaning’. This initiative started as a result of the conclusion drawn in a research by Jorcho van Vlijmen. His most important conclusion was that cleaners often feel unseen and undervalued. As a partner, this means that both the cleaners as well as the University must feel co-responsible for the position of the cleaners. They learned that multiple parties had to be involved in the decision making process. In the end, this project resulted in more visibility and involvement for the cleaners.
