SDG nine looks at the construction of resilient infrastructure, the promotion of inclusive and sustainable industrialization and the stimulation of innovation.
How do companies stay competitive in a time when (information) technology is responsible for an exponential growth and spread of innovations. Facility Managers encourage and support these changes through the development of smart workplaces.
At Vopak, innovation is of paramount importance. New technologies are continuously investigated. As an example they are investing in renewable energy to make new solutions possible. Vopak runs a pilot with solar foil on the roof of a storage tank. The use of solar foil has the advantage that less weight rests on the tank roof and that it is flexible in terms of shape compared to solar panels. This technology might provide many opportunities in the future to be able to use more surfaces for solar energy. Another example is Vopak’s recent investment in the company Hydrogenious. This company has developed a new technology that allows hydrogen to be stored and transported in a safe and economic way. Together with other companies, it is currently being investigated whether this can also be applied on a larger scale. This could mean a breakthrough for storing and transporting green energy.
