The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are seventeen goals to make the world more sustainable by 2030.
The SDGs were established by the United Nations (UN) in 2015 as a new global sustainable development agenda.
The implementation of the SDGs is a global challenge. Each country makes an effort and contributes to achieving the goals at national level. Ifmec states that the contribution to achieving the SDGs within companies and institutions goes through the Facility Management axis. Facility Management can be seen as a strategic discipline with an operational focus that makes production possible in organizations.
This 'living document' shows for each SDG how Facility Management contributes to the relevant Sustainable Development Goal. Continuously changing good examples illustrate how Facility Management contributes to the goal to be achieved in practice.
The document becomes stronger by continuously retrieving and adding best practices and sharing the knowledge behind the examples in the Ifmec research program.
“Many of the Best Practices show that there is a balance between Planet, People and Profit
the best at company level can be achieved through Facility Management. "
